We recently visited Dooley Elementary School in Shaumburg, where they have a wonderful school-wide Japanese program. We were invited to give one of our educational taiko presentations featuring some of our youngest Tsukasa members who also attend school there.
Here we are as a part of Dooley Elementary’s own website. Take a look at our talented Chibikko students!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Kodomo no Hi Fundraiser presented by AIRMW this past weekend on May 18! It was a great turnout and a huge success! We must also thank all of the other organizations who showed their support in strengthening the Japanese American community in Chicago. And a huge special thanks to Sharon Hidakawho put the whole thing together! And thank you to all the Tsukasa members and parents who stayed to help out! We really appreciate all your support!
Take a minute to browse through the slide show and see what you may have missed!
We just had our annual Tsukasa student recital at the University of Chicago last week.
In the meantime, don’t forget to mark your calendars for SUNDAY, MAY 12 for our event “Revitalizing Tradition” which is in collaboration with Fujima Ryu of Chicago. It is a FREE EVENT and will be presented at the Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center. The event will be starting at 3pm. So come on by after your stroll in Millennium Park to enjoy a free concert! Hope to see you all there!

Thanks to everyone who made it out to Oak Park & River Forest High School this past weekend. The high school has an annual Japanese Festival in which Tsukasa and Fujima Ryu of Chicago are invited to perform every year. This year we were able to showcase a few of our youngest performers.
Also this year, Tsukasa also had a free, hour-long evening performance which showcased our advanced performers and was accompanied by an educational talk by director Tatsu Aoki. The evening show was a success and we hope to be able to continue this extra addition as part of our yearly appearance. Thanks again!!
Here’s some pictures from our 2012 McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break and is getting back into the groove of their schedules! This year we were invited (for the 5th time) to perform in downtown Chicago at the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade! It was a first television debut for one of our youngest performers Kembre. As always, we had a blast and luckily the weather was warm on Thursday. As of yet we do not have a video of this year’s performance but check out the one from last year below!
A few weeks late, but I would like to share a photo or two from our recent summer performances. The first is from the Family Fun tent sponsored by Target in Millennium Park. Every year we are invited to play at this free venue right next to the crafts and games in the tent! The first of our two shows for Family Fun was on Friday, July 20 (next is August 19 at 1pm). It was hot and sticky, but well worth it! We always look forward to these shows as many of our adult and children’s classes join us on the stage.
